acrylic, spray paint and pastel on canvas
24 x 60 x 1.5 in
Signature Info: Artist full signature on front, Artist Full Signature, title and date on back. This work is signed Bailey Ferguson, the name under which the artist worked until 2025.
DESCRIPTION:
Slow drift is the long, weightless stretch underwater after a wave lets go. Across a panoramic 60 in canvas, streaks of teal, navy, and lime pull horizontally through a pale field, broken by a burst of white impasto at left. A fine mist of spray paint settles over the lower right. Acrylic, spray paint, and pastel move between stained, drawn, and built-up passages. From the Wipeout Series, which translates the experience beneath the surface during a wipeout into abstract form.
Jackie Rey’s and the Donkey Mill Art Center are excited to partner in presenting rotating exhibitions featuring Hawaiʻi Island artists. This collaboration extends the Mill’s work beyond its campus, connecting artists with new audiences and creating more opportunities to discover and support the creative voices of our island community.
The first exhibition, Between Sets: Paintings by Bailey Silva, will be on view at Jackie Rey’s Kona from October 22, 2026, through January 2, 2027. An unveiling reception and meet-the-artist event will take place on Thursday, October 22, from 3:30 – 5:00pm at the restaurant.
